Last summer we visited Albany, NY to find out about this “Ground Zero Gunboat” that we had heard so much about – a Revolutionary War era gunboat that was located twenty-two feet underground at the site of the original World Trade Center.
I know what you are thinking: “Wow!! Are you serious?”
Damn right. I’m serious.

Edit: Previous entry stated the boat was “eighty feet underground”. Apologies. The boat was actually found twenty-two feet below the surface of Manhattan.
According to Google the boat was scuttled in a place in the Hudson River Valley that was not dry land. A place that would later be filled in with landfill in order to become part of the island of Manhattan!
