Pergo (Alt. Ending | Part 5)

Soft lights shimmered above them. Although they didn’t spend a lot of time looking up. The darkness that swept the landscape held Domingo’s attention along with a persistent sense of unease. His eyes scoured the scenery for any recognizable structures.

Crystalline structures sparsely decorated the desolate plains creating the illusion of visitors. They seemed to move closer as he gazed at them. The crackling sound of ash and decay could be heard all around like the sound of a thousand leaves. A cold wind traced the landscape.

Octavius continued his quest to start the crashed Mercedes. He had found a metal rod lying near by. It was about the size of a crowbar. He had begun pulling at something in the engine bay. “With a car like this” he said. “Well, first of all, we’re lucky that we found it with keys in it. But the battery is stone dead”.

Domingo broke his attention away from the scenery to focus on his friend. He watched as Octavius pried twisted metal away from radiator.

”With a car like this there’s still a chance we’ll get it started.”

“How?” Replied Dom. “Damn thing’s not exactly solar-powered!”

Octavius paused for a second and started to laugh from the depths of his lungs. “It’s dead, yeah… But all of these models have a secondary battery under the back seat.
