Pergo (Alternate Ending Cont. | Pt. 2)

The plan was insane yet simple.  Once started, drive the Mercedes through the darkened plains toward the pyramid fortress.  They could crash through the gate if they needed to.  The plan was simple but it worried Domingo immensely.  “A simple plan is not necessarily a good plan.” As Jack had once said.  Yet, he took command of the operation in full stride.

Peering through the darkness, his eyes fixed on the only distant light that he could see before him.  Front and center, in alignment with the peak of the vacuous triangular structure.  The light appeared to mark the entrance.

“If we get there and for some reason we get split up, just remember to meet me at THAT light.” He said, pointing at the foreboding horizon.

Octavius, leaning over the engine bay of the car, nodded his head toward the distant orb fixing his eyes on its faint glow.  He looked back at the petrified forest’s darkened silhouette whose lights were nearly concealed by the trees.  The familiar guiding lights flickered on and off in sequence briefly like the wigwags on a police cruiser, before vanishing into nothingness.  The forest was now a pitch-black monolith that writhed with the looming presence of evil.

“Yeah.  I will, Youngblood… If it stays lit!”  Replied Octavius.
